The Clockwork Lighthouse

                Chapter-1:  The Gears of Fate            The airship  Iron Albatross  shuddered as it pierced the storm clouds, lightning crackling across its copper-plated hull. Eleanor "Ellie" Voss crouched behind a crate of rusted rivets, her brass prosthetic arm whirring softly as she tightened a loose screw. She'd spent three days hiding in the cargo hold, surviving on stolen biscuits and engine grease, but now—through a crack in the deck hatch—she saw it. The Clockwork Lighthouse. It rose from the cliffs like a skeletal hand, its blackened iron ribs spiraling into the roiling sky. Gears the size of windmills turned sluggishly beneath layers of seaweed and salt, and at its peak, a fractured lens glowed an unnatural  green . The light pulsed like a heartbeat, and for a moment, Ellie swore she heard a woman's voice humming in the wind. "You'd better be worth this," she muttered, patting the fold...
